TRICOFLEX was awarded a silver medal in its first EcoVadis assessment. The medal put TRICOFLEX in the top 25% best-performing companies in its sector, in terms of CSR.
As a plastics manufacturer, we are well aware of the damage that can be caused by the unregulated and unaccountable development of our business. That is why we have made sustainable development our top priority and why, for several years now, we have been working to reduce our environmental footprint.
To validate the efforts we have already made and to reinforce our commitments, we have decided to measure our environmental, social and ethical impact with the help of EcoVadis.
A new milestone
This silver medal is recognition of the constant work carried out by our teams in terms of sustainable development. It also validates the various processes already in place at TRICOFLEX.
We have always made it a point of honour to ensure cohesion within our teams, as well as their safety and well-being; for example, by encouraging their professional development through training and promoting them internally. By working closely with the Marne Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we also ensure that our business benefits the Marne region, the birthplace of TRICOFLEX.
In terms of the environment, we have carried out a carbon audit to assess our impact on the climate, identify the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and thus begin our ecological and energy transition.
Waste recycling and recovery is an integral part of our production chain. Once sorted and processed, we reintegrate our production off-cuts into the hose manufacturing process. To our recycled PVC, we combine external material (post-industrial waste) that we recycle beforehand. Mixed with our virgin material, this new regenerated material completes the composition of many of our hoses.
This is the case with Primabel and Irriflex hoses, which are made from up to 70% recycled PVC.
Finally, we are working to reduce our energy consumption. This involves both educating our employees about everyday actions (regular in-house communication on QHSE issues, etc.) and installing less energy-intensive, more efficient systems.
Identified areas for improvement and renewed ambition
Winning the EcoVadis silver medal reflects our commitment to sustainable development, and we are keen to reaffirm our role as a responsible partner. During this period of change, we want more than anything to consult our partners to inform them of our sustainable approach and the corrective actions we are taking.
To better manage our CSR strategy, we have drawn up a materiality matrix in which we define, prioritise and sort the issues linked to our business. We can then draw up a detailed action plan and set targets for progress over time to improve our CSR performance.
This support will enable us to work on our areas for improvement and strengthen certain commitments, such as responsible purchasing. We also aim to reduce our carbon footprint by 30% over the next 5 years. This will involve increasing the percentage of recycled PVC in our products, as well as optimising our equipment.
More than ever, we want to put sustainability at the heart of our business, so that we can design products that are more eco-responsible and long-lasting.
